Purulia, April 19: A CPM leader was shot dead tonight, allegedly by Maoists, reports our correspondent.

Khetrapal Majhi, 40, a CPM local committee secretary, lived in the village of Sasko, about 310km from Calcutta. Local party members said Majhi was returning home when he was shot. Police are not sure who the killers are, but did not rule out a Maoist hand.
