German rape case

Panaji, Nov. 9 (PTI): The German woman who has accused a Goa minister’s son of raping her teenage daughter wants to withdraw her complaint, her lawyer said today.

The lawyer, Aires Rodrigues, said she had written to police expressing “frustration” over the investigation against education minister Antanasio Monserratte’s son Rohit. The 21-year-old MBA student was arrested last week on charges of rape and sending lewd messages. The complaint was filed last month.

Bank prasad

Thiruvananthapuram (PTI): Pilgrims visiting the Sabarimala temple during the current festival month can get coupons for prasad from branches of Dhanalakshmi Bank. Kerala Devaswom minister G. Sudhakaran handed over the coupons to the bank’s managing director on Sunday.

‘Suicide’

Panipat (PTI): A Haryana civil services officer’s wife and two children were found shot dead at their home in Panipat on Sunday. Police suspect it to be a case of suicide. The three were found in a pool of blood with a revolver beside Anju, the wife.

Fatal fall

Kannauj (PTI): A nine-year-old mentally challenged boy died after falling 32 feet down a borewell in a village in Kannauj. The local administration and the army tried to save Puneet but failed. The borewell had been left open by a farmer who has been arrested.

Sand Taj

Moscow (PTI): Sand artist Sudarshan Patnaik will create a 20ft-high replica of the Taj Mahal in Amsterdam for the India Fest beginning on Wednesday. Patnaik will use around 100 tonnes of sand. The sand sculpture will be built in front of the Rijks Museum. “My aim is to create 100 sand Taj Mahals worldwide and the sand Taj in Amsterdam will be the 38th,” Patnaik said.

J&K grenade

Srinagar (PTI): A live grenade was found near a tourist resort in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said. The grenade was found on a farm land and was detonated.
