Burdwan, Nov. 12: Eleven farmers and a pedestrian were killed this morning when a truck hit a tractor from behind in Burdwan’s Kalna.

The farmers, who were travelling on the tractor, were crushed under the truck as it rolled down the road. Over 60 people were on their way to Kalna town on three tractors to submit a note to the subdivisional officer demanding a six-hour-a-day schedule for farm labourers.

A CPM local committee member was gunned down tonight in Murshidabad’s Behrampore town. Majid Sheikh, 48, was pillion-riding on a motorcycle when alleged Congress supporters attacked him.
