Style according to you is…

It is personal and individualistic. Style is an attitude and above everything else it’s the confidence with which you carry yourself.

Five items in your closet you can’t do without

I can’t do without most things in my closet. A pair of shorts, my skinny jeans, a comfy T-shirt, any of my hot dresses, and my favourite Victorian-style red shirt (which goes with just about anything) are some of the things that I can’t do without.

Most extravagant buy

That will have to be my animal-print, killer Dolce & Gabbana skinny tunic dress. I simply had to buy it as it was a beauty and I wore it to receive my first award ever. It was worth it.

What do you like to mix-and-match?

I like to mix-and-match anything black and white — a classic combination that rarely goes wrong. So I could team black formal shorts with a white Roman shirt and zebra-print heels. I am rarely boring in my clothes.

What kind of a shopper are you?

I am a compulsive shopper and shopping actually relieves me of stress. But I always buy well.

Your favourite shopping destination

Any place that offers good clothes. I like Southeast Asia, some parts of India and Europe. I shop wherever I go.

You have a fetish for

Anything that looks good on me but I am very fond of crazy looking shoes and chic, sexy dresses.

Favourite accessories

Belts, footwear, headgear and wooden bangles.

Latest buys

I recently bought some beautiful lingerie, skinny pants in purple and black and some more killer heels.

If money were no object, what would you add to your closet?

Dolce & Gabbana dresses, Christian Dior overcoats and I would also love to pick up stuff from Burberry, Chanel, Gucci, ETRO... the sky’s the limit.

The trend you are sporting at the moment

Chic and sexy is my style statement now.

Essentials in your handbag

My bag always has my MAC cream blush-on, a MAC lip balm, my wallet, a perfume —usually 212 SEXY — my lyrics book and sometimes a kajal pencil and MAC StudioFix. My bags are usually heavy.

Inherited treasures

My good looks and yeah, thick black hair.

Is there any outfit you love to wear but which your family just hates?

My mom doesn’t like me in shorts and when I was a teenager my dad felt that my wild style was atrocious.

Stranded on an island, your uniform would be

Shorts and maybe a nice slinky T-shirt (or something made of a flimsier material) and cute chappals. Hope I am stranded just for a day or I would die.

Did you ever go through any wild fashion phase?

Oh yes, all the time. In the past, I coloured my hair in different shades from burnt orange to flaming red or candy pink. In college I wore funky big shoes all the time. I had a Dalmatian-print pair of shoes which I wore on the first day of college.

You have a nose for?

The good things of life.

Whose closet do you envy and why?

The closets of actor Sarah Jessica Parker and some parts of Victoria Beckham’s closet. I’d look better in Beckham’s clothes.

One aspect of fashion that bugs you the most…

It’s painful on occasions and heavy on the pocket. Those sexy stilettos hurt and skinny jeans remind you to keep your belly in. Fashion is not always comfortable and comes at a price.

A fashion tip...

Learn to love yourself. Understand your body and wear clothes accordingly. The mirror never lies.
