Calcutta, Feb. 4: A senior member of the Revolutionary Peoples Front, an insurgent group in the Northeast, was arrested in Calcutta today for his alleged links with Maoists.
Police said Dhiren Singh, 37, was staying in Jadavpur with his family posing as a medical representative. He had been supplying arms, ammunition and sophisticated communication sets to the Maoists for the past two years, an officer said.
Teacher strike
Calcutta: The West Bengal College and University Teachers Association will organise a cease-work on February 17 to protest the governments alleged inaction in clearing the arrears due under the UGCs Sixth Pay Commission recommendations.
